This presentation will show how Volkswagen handles a Db2 database with one very large 2 column table (timestamp &BLOB) , which was growing from some GB to 400TB. It will explain what challenges we had with hardware changes, software limits and working errors and how we solved them. Also making backups is not so easy for such a large system. This system is managed with a minimum amount of hardware resources inside a single Db2 LUW instance.
Norbert Menzel works with Db2 on different platforms (z/OS, OS/2, AIX) for about 40 years. Since 2005 he works for Volkswagen and manages Db2 LUW on AIX.
