About me
I started working with IBM Db2 on UNIX platforms in 1996 at the Institute for High Performance Computing and Databases in St. Petersburg, Russia. Since then, Db2 has remained at the core of my professional life. My education in Mathematics and Computer Science at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University helped shape a deep interest in database internals, performance behavior, and the architectural elegance of Db2.
During more than 25 years in IT, I have worked across Db2 administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, database development, high availability, disaster recovery, and complex migrations. My experience includes large enterprise and mission-critical environments in banking, telecom, and global corporate infrastructure, including leading Db2 administration and support teams, owning high-risk cutovers, and driving private cloud migration programs at scale.
Today I work as an independent Db2 LUW consultant, focused on production stabilization, performance optimization, HADR/DR, migrations, and cost reduction through better database design and right-sizing. I also enjoy sharing practical lessons from real projects with the Db2 community.
